ABSENT OR OUT FOR SCHOOL ACTIVITY?
CHS World Geography Make up work policy: Students have as many days to make up work as they were absent. Make up work is posted on the calendar which is located immediately to the right inside the door, on the wall. Late "make up" work ( after allotted time = as many days absent) will have 10 points deducted per day from the grade received until 5 days late. It is the students responsibility to get the make up work from the designated location in the classroom before we begin class or after we end - NOT DURING THE LESSON / ACTIVITY.

Make up work CAN NOT be done during class time. It is work to make up for lost instruction time not intended to result in more lost instruction time.Studnets needing assistance may attend the FRESHMAN SUCCESS CENTER AFTER SCHOOL.

IT IS THE STUDENT'S RESPONSIBILITY TO GET ALL MAKE UP WORK FROM DESIGNATED CLASS CALENDAR LOCATED BY THE DOOR OF THE CLASSROOM AND COMPLETE IT IN THE ALLOTTED TIME. NO MAKE UP WORK WILL BE GIVEN FOR TRUANCY, POOR BEHAVIOR CHOICES, WALKING OUT OF CLASSROOM, OR TASK REFUSAL.

Missed tests and project intructions are located Bartin's Freshman Success Center folder and students have the same allotted time as above MAKE UP WORK POLICY to complete. Students absent for more than one day of a group project will be required to to do the project independently.

Missed Graded Notes: Students must make up notes using the webiste at home or in our TIGER LIBRARY or Freshman Success Center before or after school (6:35 am- 7:00am or 2:40pm - 4:00pm. Students must copy into own notebook ON THEIR OWN TIME NOT DURING CLASS and then SHOW ME before or after school to receive credit for the note taking assignment.  Writing notes aids in comprehension of material hence computer print outs are not accepted as make up notes.
Conroe High School Social Studies Department Policies (all grade levels):

Exemption Policy: Same as last year with one exception. Students (9-11) may earn a "BONIUS" exemption in the  Spring if they have  no more than 4 absences in any class for the fall.

Retest: A student can retake one test per 9 weeks and with a max grade of 85. The retake must take place before the next test is given. The student must attended tutorials in order to be eligible for retake. Applies to all class/courses. (There is further discussion concerning DC, will keep you updated)

Late Work: Daily grades-one day late best grade 70%, two or more days late, best grade 50%. Zero if nothing turned in.
Major grade-10 points off for each school day late down to a 50%

Make-Up Work:  Students will be given the opportunity to make up work missed due to any absence with the
exception of truancy, i.e. skipping school. Truancy is the absence of a student from school without the permission of the  student’s parent or guardian. It is the responsibility of the student to request and complete any assignment or test missed because of an absence. For any work assigned during a student’s absence, the student will be permitted one day for each day of absence to complete that work. Students who miss class for an approved school activity are to notify the teacher in advance concerning the possibility of completing any tests or assignment prior to the absence. Long-term assignments are due even if the student is absent on that day. Students should make arrangements to have long-term assignments turned in on the date due if the student is unable to do so because of an absence.

Students will take notes and organize the information (using one of 7Thinking Maps) according to the critical thinking learning objective in the lesson.
This will give you an idea of classwork and current expectations for your child.
These are the standards your child will be accountable for on the End Of Course Exam and Final Exam.
